Old Mill has a dedicated SENDco, who continuously strives to ensure every child makes the best possible progress. Our quality first teaching approach ensures lessons are inclusive, however when needed, individual SEND provision is planned carefully to ensure each child progresses in their area of need. We achieve this through extensive partnership working with teachers, 1:1 staff, parents and wider services.

Old Mill Primary School is both welcoming and inclusive. We welcome everybody into our school family. Our aims for pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities are the same as for all our pupils; to provide access to a broad and balanced curriculum, to fully participate in school life and to have access to the highest quality of education. At Old Mill we understand that some children will need adjustments and individual planning in order to help them to meet these aims. We endeavour to do this through listening to pupils and their parents and building a picture based on the whole child.

For some children, their additional needs may have been recognised before starting with us, and for some these needs may become apparent over their time with us. We are committed to supporting children and their families through this journey in a sensitive and professional manner.
